Bicyclist Injured in Car Accident on Highway 105 in Liberty County, TX

Liberty County, TX -- January 12, 2021, at least one person was injured due to an accident where a vehicle hit a bicyclist along Highway 105 in Tarkington.

Investigators with the Texas DPS responded to the scene east of Cleveland in the Tarkington area at around 7:00 p.m.

In their reports, officials did not release specific details surrounding the crash. They said only that a bicyclist and a vehicle collided at Highway 105 and Highway 321, and LifeFlight was called in to the scene. Additional details are currently unavailable.

While it would be ridiculous to suggest bicyclists never do anything wrong, I also find people are generally too quick to assume bicyclists caused their own accidents. There are more than a few instances of larger vehicles cutting them off, driving into bike lanes, and otherwise harming cyclists to prove why it's important to wait for all the facts to come to light. Hopefully experienced accident reconstructionists are getting to the bottom of exactly what happened here.
