Mount Holly, NC 18-wheeler Accident Kills 1, Injures 1 on Mountain Island Highway

Mount Holly, NC -- March 24, 2020, one person was killed and another was injured following an accident where an 18-wheeler and another vehicle crashed.

According to investigators with the Mount Holly Police Department, the crash happened at around 4:15 p.m. at Mountain Island Highway and Sandy Ford Road.

Initial reports said that an 18-wheeler was traveling southbound along the highway. Ahead, a vehicle reportedly made a left turn off Sandy Ford Road, entering the truck's path. As a result, the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, currently unidentified, died as a result of the collision. The truck driver went to a hospital in stable condition.

Currently, police continue to investigate the factors leading up to the crash.
