Pedestrian Injured in Chicago, IL CTA Bus Accident on I-290

Chicago, IL -- October 8, 2019, one person was injured due to an accident where a CTA bus struck them along traffic lanes of I-290.

Authorities with the Illinois State Police reported that the collision happened at around 4:15 p.m. near I-290 and Central Avenue.

In their preliminary investigations, troopers said that a woman, identified only as a 35-year-old, was walking at the time. For reasons which remain unclear, she entered traffic lanes of eastbound I-290. In doing so, the woman entered the path of a CTA bus which then struck her.

The woman was pinned beneath the vehicle until rescue teams extricated her. They transported her to a local hospital with serious injuries. It appears no one else was injured in the crash.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
