Keith Padilla Killed in Accident with 18-Wheeler on US-83 near Maywood, NE

Maywood, NE -- On October 7, 2019, 28-year-old Keith Padilla was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 83 near Maywood.

According to a statement from the Frontier County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on the highway, roughly 3 miles north of town. Padilla was driving his Ford Taurus south on the roadway when he reportedly crossed over the center line for unknown reasons. After entering oncoming traffic, Padilla crashed into a northbound semi-truck.

Padilla was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, but believe impairment from drugs and alcohol may have been a factor.
