Representatives from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol have released a statement to the public that identifies the individual who was killed on January 13th, 2013. Accident investigators currently suspect that Michael Gardner was killed when a brake on the tractor-trailer froze and he crawled beneath the haul to free a tire. Due to brake malfunction, when Gardner removed the tire the truck rolled over him.
Scene of the Accident
The truck dragged Gardner for nearly 70 feet before coming to a rest. The report does not specify if Gardner was killed instantly or if he was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him in the accident. The investigation into the incident, as well as the chain of events leading to it are still under evaluation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
