San Antonio, TX — December 3, 2017, Pedro Del-Toro was fatally injured following an accident in which his vehicle overturned off-road.
Officials from the San Antonio Police Department reported that the incident happened at around 6:20 p.m. in the 9000 block of I-35 South, near Somerset Road.
Preliminary investigations indicated that 25-year-old Del-Toro was driving a pickup along southbound I-35 at the time. For reasons unclear, the vehicle reportedly drifted off the side of the highway. It began to swerve, causing it to flip over repeatedly before coming to a stop on the median.
Del-Toro was thrown from the vehicle during the wreck. As a result, he sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Police have not yet determined what factors contributed to the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
Map of the Area
There aren’t many details available right now, which is usually the case after single-vehicle accidents like this one. However, that lack of information doesn’t always stop people from jumping to conclusions about what caused the accident. Many people tend to automatically assume that single-vehicle accidents are the driver’s fault. While such factors are certainly worth consideration, there are also factors beyond a driver’s control which can cause these types of crashes.
Mechanical failure, tire blowouts, poor road conditions, hazardous debris in the roads–these are all factors known to cause accidents like these. However, they tend to be rare or easily overlooked, so they don’t often show up in police reports. This is just one reason I constantly encourage those affected by a serious accident to have a private investigator look into their accident. The best way to overcome baseless assumptions is to have tangible evidence, and private investigators help ensure that all facts come to light.
