Firetruck brakes caused fatal crash in Boston, MA.
On January 9, 2009, Kevin, M. Kelley, a lieutenant in the Boston Fire Department, was killed while riding in the passenger seat of a firetruck that crashed into a building. An internal inquiry has shown that this crash was largely caused by brake failure brought on by poor maintenance of the vehicle.
Losing a loved one in an accident like this is a terrible tragedy. Unfortunately, cases involving fatal crashes caused by poor maintenance are not uncommon. Negligent mechanics cut corners during repairs or organizations try to maximize their profits by skipping essential repairs, and innocent victims are the ones who suffer. In cases like these, family members may wish to seek justice through a wrongful death. I wish I could say that this is a simple task, but in my experience, both individuals and whole organizations will do everything in their power to avoid being held responsible for an accident. But ultimately, the law is on your side. With the help of an experienced wrongful death attorney, those responsible for your loved one's death can be held accountable for their negligence.
