On Saturday, March 6, a passenger was killed in a Dana Point, CA accident. Police report that Roberto Mendoza lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree, killing his passenger. Police believe Mendoza was drunk at the time of the accident. The victim's name has not been released. Police are still investigating the incident.
Drivers are responsible for ensuring they do not endanger other people with their actions. This responsibility extends to their own passengers. When a passenger is killed due to a driver's negligence, family members may wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Unfortunately, this is never easy. I have worked on wrongful death cases for twenty years, and I have seen what people are willing to do in order to avoid accepting responsibility for this kind of accident. But ultimately, the law is on your side, and with the help of an experienced wrongful death attorney, the people responsible for your loved one's death can be brought to justice.
