Drunk driver kills Cynthia Revilla and Danielle Hooten.
Police arrested 38-year-old Alisia Padilla on two counts of intoxication manslaughter and a single count of intoxication assault after a fast paced run that left multiple vehicles damaged, multiple people injured, and Cynthia Revilla, 24, & Danielle Hooten, 18, dead.
The events began when Padilla and her husband left a bar at approximately midnight in their GMC truck. As they were leaving the bat they struck another vehicle in the parking lot and attempted to flee the scene. The owner of the car that Padilla hit began to persue her.
At approximately 12:10 a.m. Padilla slammed into the back of a Dodge Neon near the intersection of Interstae 35W and Seminary Drive. The collision with the Neon did not fully diable her vehicle and she continued onward before running a red light and striking two more cars, one of which was a Cadillac occupied by Cynthia Revilla, Danielle Hooten, and Ms. Hooten's 20 month old son. The two women in the Cadillac died and the infant was thrown from the vehicle sustaining multiple injuries. Hooten's son was taken to Cook Childrens Medical Center and is in stable condition.
A father and son who occupied the other car Padilla stuck in the intersection were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries and are in stable condition.
Padilla's husband was also taken to John Peter Smith Hospital and is in intensive care.
a note from E. Michael Grossman:
This story is upsetting on so many levels. It's frustrating to know that there are people out there that would allegedly perform such selfish acts that result in the wrongful death of others. This is a clear example of how negligence can lead to the death and injury of others. I certainly hope that the families of those who died and the injured parties themselves persue legal action to get what they are entitled to.
