Bikers Against Child Abuse member Richard Craig "Hat Trick" Schroeder Killed by Waco driver
39-year-old Trena Evette Mitchell was charged with manslaughter and injury to a child following a late-December fatal Waco motorcycle accident. According to police, Mitchell, failed to yield the right of way to 45-year-old Richard Craig Schroeder, and struck his Harley-Davidson in the middle of an intersection. Schroeder, who was carrying toys for a charity at the time of the motorcycle accident, was thrown from the bike and was not wearing a helmet. Known as "Hat Trick" to some, Richard Schroeder was a member of the group Bikers Against Child Abuse. He was also the owner of Schroeder's Auto Sound and Security. Schroeder was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, and pronounced dead about an hour after the wreck.
Trena Mitchell had four children in the car with her, including her two-month-old great nephew Zay'andre Bernard Warren. The two-month-old was not restrained in a car seat, which was in the trunk. He was treated for injuries at Cook Children's Hospital.
Mitchell has admitted to officers that she is legally blind, and should not have been driving. The affidavit states that she has been issued two previous citations for driving without a license.
According to information released by police, this appears to be a classic case of a wrongful death motorcycle accident. When someone is killed due to the negligence of another, the family has a right to recover compensation for losses incurred by that incident. The family should not be the one to pay for his medical bills and final expenses. The sudden loss of income will likely also put an enormous financial burden on the family. These are just some of the more obvious reasons to file a wrongful death lawsuit, but there can be much more than that. An experienced fatal biker accident attorney will look at your case, find all those negligible, and seek full compensation for all of your damages, compensatory and punitive.
