Don Hamilton and Donte Pearson killed by drunk driver fleeing from police
Two people are dead after being hit by drunk driver fleeing police. 23-year-old Don Hamilton and 21-year-old Donte Pearson were killed Friday, January 1st, after a drunk driver in a stolen car ran a red light while fleeing from Milwaukee police. Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene, and all three passengers were taken to a Wauwatosa hospital, where Pearson later died. The drunk driver was charged with two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, two counts of intoxicated use of a vehicle (prohibited alcohol concentration), and one count of fleeing or eluding an officer, causing death.
Drunk driving accidents are, unfortunately, a common occurrence in America today. Many states have now adopted what are known as dram shop liability laws. Dram shop laws generally establish the liability of an establishment, as it pertains to death or injury caused by patrons who had become intoxicated at that establishment. If you have lost a loved one because of a drunk driver, speak with a wrongful death attorney. A fatal accident attorney can find those responsible, and work hard to recover the compensation you are owed for your loss.
