According to local news sources 28-year old Christopher Menard was killed by a semi-truck on June 20 2012. Sources said that Menard was crossing I-35 on foot near 51st Street when he was struck by the semi-truck. The collision also caused the big rig to overturn leaving the driver with nonfatal injuries.

Police said that Menard was killed immediately in the accident and that no other vehicles were involved. They are expected to investigate the matter further. Austin police said that Menards death marked the 39th traffic fatality for Austin in 2012.
