William Billy Bond killed in Tollway accident when peice of median flies through windshield
William "Billy" Bond, 57, was killed Dec. 20, 2007, after being struck by a chunk of concrete on the Dallas North Tollway. Bond was being driven by his brother when a motorist ahead of them, 44-year-old Christopher Spicer, lost control of his truck and struck the median at a high rate of speed. A piece of concrete from the median flew through the victim's windshield and killed Bond instantly. The victim's family is suing the driver of the truck, the North Texas Toll Authority, and other companies who did construction, engineering, or maintenance work on the tollway. The driver of the truck was indicted for criminally negligent homicide, but prosecutors decided not to prosecute, saying the case was better handled in civil court.
