Dallas man fatally shot at crime-plagued Regis Square apartments
On the evening of Saturday December 5th, Dallas resident Genaro Sanchez-Flores was shot and killed by a group of three to four armed men in an attempted robbery at his Pleasant Grove apartment complex. Another resident of the same apartment complex, Regis Square Apartments on St. Regis Drive, told police he too was robbed by three or four people earlier in the evening. Police have not said if the two incidents are related, and have not provided any descriptions of the suspects. The Dallas Police Department's website lists 28 criminal offenses reported so far at St. Regis Drive in 2009.
Under Texas law, if the apartment complex had prior knowledge of safety related issues, including crimes committed on the property or to it's residents, they would be required to not only notify the residents of these issues, but take a proactive stance to help minimize potential harm as well. If the apartment complex failed to take action, or notify residents of the potential dangers in the area, they could be held liable in a wrongful death or injury claim. Many times, the victims or the victim's families do not have a full understanding of who may be held liable in Texas wrongful death cases. If you are the victim of wrongful injury, or the family of a wrongful death victim, the first thing you need to do is call an experienced Texas wrongful death attorney.
