An 18-wheeler accident claimed the life of 4-year-old Luca Moya
4-year-old Luca Moya of Beeville, TX was killed in an accident involving an 18-wheeler. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 59 near Goliad, TX when an 18-wheeler struck the passenger side of the car Moya was riding in. The child died at the scene and his mother, Emika Moya, was severely injured.
In my 20 years of practicing wrongful death law I have seen too many accidents like this one. In most of these types of cases, the family members are disappointed to know that criminal
charges are not brought against the truck driver, as these types of
incidents rarely are criminal in nature. The civil court system does,
however, provide families with a means of seeking justice. While many
people feel that filing a lawsuit is about money, it really goes beyond
that. In many of the Texas truck accident cases that my firm has won,
we make the focus of the settlement more about changes in protocol and
rules for the trucking company. This is because most families want to
know that the purpose of their wrongful death lawsuit will go beyond
monetary terms and that it will go so far as to make the roads safer
for others. Naturally, these types of lawsuits can have significant
value but most families are really more concerned with achieving
justice, peace of mind, and closure. In any event, an experienced Texas wrongful death attorney
will work to ensure that the families true intentions are met. I wish
the best for the victims of this accident. This is truly a tragedy.
