Five injured and five killed in a two-vehicle accident in Jonesboro
On May 27, 2009, a car accident claimed the lives of five people. The accident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. in Jonesboro, Tennessee on U.S. 63. when the driver of a vehicle drove onto the highway in the wrong direction. The driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when they collided with a van operated by Focus, Inc., a company that provides services for disabled adults. Angela Austin, the 26-year-old driver of the Focus bus, was killed as well as three passengers in the van, 25-year-old Anthony Vaughn, 34-year-old Michael Lane, and 56-year-old Gerald Brown, and the driver of the other vehicle. Additionally, passengers 29-year-old Jonathan Vaughn, 35-year-old Regina James, 41-year-old Steve Farmer, 36-year-old Keenan Wilson, and 32-year-old Brian Parnell were all injured in the accident.
