Robert Arnold Killed in Apartment Fire in Pine Bluff, Arkansas
According to Pine Bluff News, a man was killed in an apartment fire at a complex in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, February 19 when 55-year-old Robert Arnold was killed in a blaze that began at his apartment on Cottonwood Street. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Commentary Apartment fires are particularly dangerous, as their proximity could affect other residents. With the investigation from the fire department, a third party should examine the apartment to determine a cause for the accident. Some of the questions that come to my mind are issues like was the victim amply warned of the fire, was it caused by a defective piece of equipment in the unit, and did his residence have the appropriate exits in case of emergency? All of these need to be addressed by the separate investigation, and determine if the complex is within code for the city and state. If transgressions are found, there could be third party liability.
