Jerry Don Green and Tracy Martinez Killed in Plane Crash near Ruidoso, New Mexico
According to Lubbock Online, a plane crashed near Ruidoso, New Mexico, killing two people. The accident occurred some time Saturday, November 26 when owner and pilot Jerry Don Greene, 49 and passenger Tracy Martinzez, 30 were killed. The crash site was discovered the morning of November 30. New Mexico State Police note windy and overcast conditions the day the crash is believed to have occurred.
Commentary Plane crashes are some of the most difficult of events to investigate, as their cause could be a number of factors. For this reason, it is generally a very good idea to have a third party investigation conducted, in addition to any reports made by New Mexico authorities and the FAA. The many factors I mention make liability a difficult entity to determine. Multiple parties could indeed end up incurring some form of fault from the accident. Obviously the first part of the investigation is looking into the actions of the pilot before the accident. Offensive or aggressive maneuvers could partially fault a pilot. Conversely, maintenance can be a major factor in plane crashes and investigating the maintenance history of the plane, or recent service conducted, should be the next step in determining liability. These are just a few possible factors, as others like negligent air traffic control or weather could have played a role as well.
