Pamela Weiher and Passenger Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident in Fort Worth, Texas
According to the Star-Telegram, two people were killed in a one-car
accident in Fort Worth, Texas. The wreck occurred around 3:15 p.m.
Thursday, November 17 when Fort Worth police believe 55-year-old Pamela
Weiher lost control of her vehicle near the Benbrook traffic circle and
struck a light pole. Also killed in the accident was her male passenger,
who has not been identified. Fort Worth police continue to investigate
the accident.
Commentary When a
one-vehicle accident occurs, a private investigation should be conducted
as the cause of the accident may be more difficult to extol than a
multi-car wreck. The investigation should check the vehicle
for defective manufacturing or failing parts. We've litigated several
accidents in the past where an adjuster attempted to place liability on
the driver of a one-car wreck, only to have our investigation find a
manufacturing flaw in the vehicle. Unfortunately, the thing about a
defect is that the problem rears itself at the worst possible time, like
a quick stop approaching a traffic circle. The point is,
following a one-car accident, the cause of the wreck is rarely evident
at the scene. They actually probably require more investigatory work, as
there is not another party involved.
