Lasharon Powell 17 was killed Wednesday December 12 2007. Powell was a passenger in the backseat of a vehicle that rolled and struck a tree in Mansfield.
There were 4 other teenagers in the vehicle that were injured. 2 of the teenagers were takeny by airflight while the other 2 were taken by ambulance.
All 5 teenagers students at Legacy High School had left campus during lunch. They were on Pleasant Ridge Drive around 11:45 a.m. when the vehicle rolled and hit a tree. Legacy has a closed campus during lunch it is not known why the students left campus during lunch.
This is a situation that is hard on family members and students. The students will need support from family teachers and counselors. The school staff will need to be there to listen to these students and help them come to terms with losing a friend.
