Commentary My condolences go out to the families of all the victims involved in this terrible accident. It is an unnerving thing when lives are taken at such a young age. To begin to decipher this accident, a third party investigation is needed. Obviously the young man's driving in the wrong lane could fault him in this incident. Beyond the driving, an expert would be needed to examine the wreck and determine if both vehicles were functioning properly, prior to the accident. Unfortunately, mechanical failure is a frequently occurring cause of auto accidents. I'm also concerned about whether or not the teen should have been driving after school hours. My firm litigated a matter where the owner of the vehicle was faulted for allowing their teenager to drive with a history of erratic driving. Learning how to drive takes years, not months, and Metroplex roads can be dangerous around dusk for those who are inexperienced on them. Sadly, insurance adjusters are about to start pushing surviving family members to sign away their right to sue, in exchange for their determined compensation. This no-haggle approach is typically quite underwhelming and can be downright offensive to place a low-ball dollar figure on the loss of a loved one.
