41-year-old Vernon Hamilton of Tyler, TX killed in car accident, five others injured
On April 4, 2009 a wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision that claimed the life of 41-year-old Vernon Hamilton of Tyler, TX. The accident occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. on U.S. 175 in Vernon, TX. An unidentified woman was driving an SUV in the wrong direction resulting in a head-on collision with Hamilton's family vehicle. The SUV burst into flames. Both Hamilton and the driver of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene. Three children, a teenager, and an adult traveling in Hamilton's car were all transported to a local hospital. Their names and conditions have not been released.
