49-year-old Craig Toner was killed in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident in south Bend Indiana
On November 2, 2008 off duty Roseland Town Marshall Craig Toner was killed in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident. The accident occurred in South Bend, IN. as the officer was riding his motorcycle. 26-year-old Alexander Orta was driving his SUV in the opposite direction when he crossed the centerline and struck Toner's motorcycle. Orta allegedly got out of his SUV and looked around, then got back in his vehicle and fled the scene. He was arrested shortly thereafter when he crashed his SUV into some trees. Toner had been a police officer for approximately 25 years.
