John Walter Newman Jr., Cynthia Newman, and J.W. Newman die in plane crash in Kaufman County
On July 19, 2008 John Walter Newman Jr., Cynthia Newman, and J.W. Newman departed a private airport aboard thier Piper PA-22 single engine airplane when the plane crashed killing all aboard.
The accident occurred in Kaufman County following the family's monthly aviation meeting. Shortly after take off for reasons not yet known the plane crashed into a field.
17-year-old Katie Newman, the couple's daughter, told reporters that she is confused as to how such an accident occurred as her father was more than qualified to fly in the pleasant conditions surrounding the accident.

It still confuses me this day what happened. I still wish I had more information to hear or even a reason for the crash. There is no way that wind could have taken the plane down. I've flown with John and I know he is a respected pilot among the Sycomore airfield. Growing up as a kid him and his son have always shared the same enthusiasm as me and my father. I hope the FAA comes to a valid conclusion of how this happened. Steven Howard
