Columbus, OH — A wrong-way driver was responsible for a fatal two-car accident along I-670 in the downtown area of Columbus after an early-morning collision on Saturday, June 22, 2013. Police said that Vincent Canzani, 61, was killed when his car was hit by wrong-way driver Mark Cordle, 22.
According to the news reports, Cordle was driving a pickup truck east in the westbound lanes of the interstate at about 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning near 3rd Street. Police said that Cordle then crashed into Canzani’s westbound Jeep and a minivan, leaving Cordle critically injured and Canzani dead at the scene.
Two women inside the minivan were not seriously injured, police said, and it was suspected that Cordle was under the influence of alcohol. According to staff at the Grand Medical Center, Cordle was described as being “very drunk.” Investigations into the accident are still ongoing.
