James Varel killed in workplace accident on dairy farm in Clinton County, CT.
On Wednesday, August 25, 63-year-old James H. Varel was
killed in a dairy farm accident in Clinton County, CT.According to local news reports, Varel was
working on a dairy farm, loading two bales of hay onto a front-loading tractor.Allegedly, one of the bales of hay fell on
top of him, crushing him.Varel’s son
called emergency workers at approximately 1:00 p.m.Varel was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital for
treatment, but he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:00 p.m.Police are still investigating the incident,
trying to figure out exactly how it happened.
