Thomas Velasquez dies after being struck by car while at work in Bessemer, AL.
On Tuesday, August 24, 43-year-old Thomas Lopez
Velasquez died after being hit by a car while at work in Bessemer, AL.At the time of the accident, Velasquez was
working as a trash collector, though reports did not indicate the company that
employed Velasquez.Early news reports
indicate that, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Velasquez was working along Alabama 150,
when a passing motorist allegedly lost control and crashed into him on the side
of the road.Emergency rescue workers
rushed Velasquez to UAB Hospital, but he died shortly after arrival.The accident remains under
investigation.Police have not yet
stated whether or not charges will be filed against the driver.
