Esmeli Moran killed in logging accident just outside Fortuna, CA.
On Tuesday, August 24, 36-year-old Esmeli Moran was killed in a logging accident close to Fortuna, CA.Moran was working for Steve Will's Trucking, close to Tompkins Hill Road.According to local news reports, Moran was setting a choker (a chain that is looped around a log and then secured) on a redwood log when the choker somehow slipped.The log rolled on top of Moran, trapping him underneath it.No one witnessed the incident, so police do not know exactly how it happened, but it is believed that Moran was killed on impact.The incident is still under investigation, as officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration try to figure out how the choker slipped.
