Michael Costales dies after being struck by airplane propeller while at work in Beverly, MA.
On Friday, August 27, a workplace accident at Beverly
Municipal Airport in Beverly, MA claimed the life of 30-year-old Michael
Costales.Costales was a flight
instructor employed by Beverly Flight Center when the incident occurred.Early news stories about the incident state
that Costales was waiting to taxi his aircraft on the runway when he saw
another pilot ahead of him.The pilot
was struggling with the canopy on his aircraft, so Costales decided to help
him.Investigators do not know exactly
what happened next, but somehow, as Costales was exiting his aircraft, he was
struck by his plane’s propeller.He was
killed at the scene.The accident is
still being investigated by police and the Federal Aviation Administration, as
investigators try to piece together the details.

MIKE CERTIFIED ME IN SCUBA AND COMPLETED MY TRAINING FOR MY IFR PILOTS LICENSE. MIKE WAS A PILOT WHO HAD A CHECK LIST FOR EVERYTHING! ONE DAY WE DOVE AND I WAS GETING OUT OF THE OCEAN AND MIKE STOPPED ME AND MADE ME PUT THE REGULATER BACK IN MY MOUTH TILL WE WHERE FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THE WATER. THAT IS HOW CAUSIOUS MIKE WAS.
