Karl Olson dies in workplace logging accident near Rio Dell, CA.
On Thursday, August 19, an accident at a logging site
near Rio Dell, CA left 32-year-old Karl Grant Olson dead.When the accident occurred, Olson was working
as a contract logger.He was part of a
crew logging on land owned by Humboldt Redwood Co.Local news stories about the accident state
that it occurred around 9:00 a.m., while Olson was cutting a log near numerous
stacks of other logs.Allegedly, a log
fell from the top of another stack and struck Olson, pinning him against a
second stack of logs.It is believed
that he was killed immediately.Co-workers
found his body shortly after the accident and paramedics were called.The accident is still being investigated, as
police try to figure out why the log fell.
