Deal made in Amherst County wrongful-death suit (Richmond Times-Dispatch)A settlement has been reached in the $15 million wrongful-death lawsuit involving a man who died in the custody of the Amherst County Sheriff's Office in 2005.

Houston man dies when his ATV flips

On June 19, 2008 a Houston man died as the ATV (all terrain vehicle or four-wheeler) that he and an 8-year-old boy were riding on flipped. The ATV hit a piece of hose that was stretched across the road causing it to flip forward. Police are trying to determine if the hase was placed there intentionally or even if it was stretched across the road in order to deliberately cause the rider to crash. The young boy was able to escape serious injury.
