Man dies after collapsing in John Peter Smith Hospital pharmacy in Fort Worth, TX.
On Tuesday, August 17, a man died after collapsing at a
hospital pharmacy in Fort Worth, TX.The
incident happened at the John Peter Smith Hospital.Witnesses were concerned about the hospital’s
response to the collapse.According to
early reports about the incident, a person picking up a prescription at the
pharmacy noticed that the man was slumped in his char and blue in the
face.The person notified hospital
personnel, but witnesses state that it took almost ten minutes for medical
workers to arrive and try to help the man.Once they arrived, they tried to use a defibrillator to revive him, but
it did not work.One witness reported
hearing one of the workers state that the defibrillator was not charged.The workers then got a second defibrillator,
but it did not work either.They began
looking for a plug to plug in the defibrillator, but they did not have an
extension cord to reach the victim.The
victim was eventually put on a cart and taken to the emergency room.However, they could not resuscitate the man,
who was pronounced dead.Police have not
yet released the man’s name.The
incident remains under investigation, as police and hospital officials review
the hospital workers’ response to the incident.
