Miner Jessie Adkins killed in mining accident in Marion County, WV.
On Thursday, July 29, 39-year-old Jessie Adkins was
killed in a Marion County, WV mining accident.The incident happened at Loveridge Mine owned by Consol Energy Inc.,
where Adkins was employed.Early news
reports state that, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Adkins was operating a bolter
when a mine wall collapsed, burying Adkins in coal and other minerals and
pinning him against another piece of mining equipment.Rescue workers freed Adkins and rushed him to
Fairmont General Hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after he
arrived.Police and other officials are
still investigating the accident, trying to discover how the collapse
occurred.This is the 42nd
coal mining fatality in the United States this year.
