Woman dies in workplace pipe accident in Dupo, IL.
On Friday, July 23, a workplace accident claimed the
life of an independent truck driver in Dupo, IL.The woman was at Barnes Pipe and Steel
Supply, preparing to haul a load of 24-inch, 1,000-pound steel pipes when the
incident happened.Witnesses report
that, as workers were securing the pipes to the woman’s trailer, one of the
pipes fell, crushing the woman standing below.Her legs were pinned underneath the pipe, and co-workers tried to free
her with a forklift, but they could not lift the pipe.The woman allegedly was pronounced dead at
the scene.The accident is still being
investigated, as police try to discover what caused the pipe to fall.
