May 30th New York crane collapse claims the life of Simeon Alexis

On May 30, 2008 a construction crane collapsed resulting in the death of construction worker Simeon Alexis. As the crane collapsed it delevered a punishing blow to the near-by 23-story building. Rubble from the building and parts of the crane crashed down to the street below. Witnesses described the scene as chatoic and frightening. Rescue workers pulled several other victims from the wreckage but their condition is not yet known.

Workplace accidents are something that my law firm has focused on heavily in the past 20 years. It is always hard hearing about the tragic details of these types of accident but that feeling is amplyfied anytime you hear of a construction accident that not only endangers the employees but bystanders as well. I hope that as the story develops that the deathcount does not rise. I wish the best for Mr. Alexis' family and I will keep them in my thoughts.
