Three killed in Houston when Suburban drives under 18-wheeler
On May 23, 2008 three men were killed in a violent accident in Houston, TX. The accident occurred when the driver of a Chevy Suburban ran through a red light and drove under the trailer of an 18-wheeler at the intersection of West Green and the Katy Freeway feeder road.
The 23-year-old driver and the passengers, ages 21 and 22, all died on impact. Two of the men were partially decapitated. Officials believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
A note from E. Michael Grossman:
Based on the limited information available about this case it appears that the families of the passengers that died in this accident would have the grounds fro a wrongful death claim against the insurance company with whom the driver of the Suburban had an insurance policy. With the help of an experienced wrongful death attorney, they families of the victims would have a good chance at making a recovery. The laws in Texas would prohibit some family members from making a wrongful death claim and enable others to do so. It is certainly not fair that these young men lost their lives and the families of these young men should certainly consider speaking with an attorney who can explain all of the options and provide them with the information they need to determine the best course of action.
I wish the best for the families of the victims. It is always sad to lose someone close to you especially when they are so young.
