Nacogdoches, TX — Texas DPS troopers identified 25-year old Brittany Pierce as the passenger in a pickup truck who was killed in a suspected alcohol-related accident over the weekend. Pierce was killed on Saturday morning, April 27, 2013, in an accident along US-259, north of Nacgodoches.
Sources said that Pierce was riding in 27-year old Gregg Lazarine’s pickup truck and was headed north on US-259 when Lazarine tried to make a U-turn near County Road 882. According to the reports, Pierce’s door opened during the U-turn and she was thrown from the pickup truck.
Pierce was taken to a local hospital, but was declared dead at about 2:30 a.m. Troopers at the scene detained Lazarine on suspicion of intoxication. He was later arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter. The accident is being investigated further.
