Officials from the North Carolina State Police have identified the individuals killed in a suspected drunk-driving accident in Rocky Mount, NC on Monday, March 11th, 2013. Police and accident investigators currently suspect both Lashunaqua Cooper and her son Jiquel Copeland were killed when the vehicle they occupied was collided with by a vehicle operated by suspected drunk driver Stacey Deans. Deans’ vehicle crossed the center lines of traffic for reasons currently under investigation where it collided with Cooper’s vehicle head-on.
Scene of the Accident
According to the report, Lashunaqua Cooper and Jiquel Copeland were both pronounced dead on the scene by emergency response personnel when they arrived. At this point in their investigation, authorities have reason to believe that drunk driving may be to blame for the accident that killed Lashunaqua Cooper and her son Jiquel Copeland. The investigation into the fatal accident is currently active and ongoing.
