55-year-old Monty Wampler killed by hit-and-run
On May 8, 2008 55-year-old Monty Wampler of Lubbock, TX was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver. The accident occurred when a driver, who police suspect was intoxicated at the time of the accident, in a 1987 Mercury Grand Marque was traveling on Avenue D and crashed into Wampler's Harley.
The motorcycle became wedged under the car. The driver of the car then reversed and fled the scene. Moments later the car hit a pedestrian running over the the woman's legs.
The driver was arrested shortly thereafter.
