Joseph Richardson killed while trying to protect daughter from out of control car
On May 5, 2008 in Chicago Illinois 39-year-old Joseph Richardsondied after being struck by a car. Richardson was walking with his four-year-old daughter Kaniyah to a local restaurant when an out of control car jumped the curb and headed straight toward the pair. Richardson grabbed Kaniyah moments before impact and attempted to lift her out of harms way. The vehicle struck Richardson and pinned him against a fence. He died at the scene. Richardson was a father of three young children.
Kaniyah was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the car was arrested on two felony counts of aggravated DUI.
